Exam 1z0-048: Oracle Database 10g R2: Real Application Clusters for Administrators
With any database system, there are always release versions that come out on the market. Oracle is no exception. Oracle version 10g had two versions that came out - R1 and R2. Release one dealt with real application clusters and how Oracle managed those clusters. Version two was based on the real application clusters for administrators. With version two, the database administrator would be responsible to install and configure Automatic Storage Management (ASM) function of Oracle. The database administrator would also install the Enterprise Manager on each cluster node, then perform database administration RAC (Real Application Clusters) environment. Whatever involves the RAC, the database administrator must show he is able to handle it. This is accomplished by passing the 1z0-048: Oracle Database 10g R2: Real Application Clusters for Administrators exam.
As a database administrator, taking care of a database, no matter what kind it is, or how it is built, is the most important job. When dealing with complex issues like RAC makes knowing Oracle an even more challenging part. This is why the database administrator needs to be certified so he can show he has the qualifications to work on such a database.
This test has two sections: RAC Administration and Cluster Management. The combined test questions come to about 75 and take roughly 120 minutes to complete for both sections. You would need a passing score of 65% for RAC Administration section, and a passing score of 62% for the Clusters Management section to get certified.
